The Syrian Arab Army has mounted a heavy offensive to north of Khan Tuman to recapture the strategic town along the Aleppo-Idlib Highway (M-5), following a series of victories against terrorists in the area over the past few days.
Military sources confirmed to Syrian media on Monday that the Syrian army backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) was trying to enter the city after capturing the hills to its northeast.
The source said the operation had yet to succeed but the battle against the Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) terrorists continued after nightfall.
The terrorists also sustained heavy casualties on Monday after the SAA forces of President Bashar al-Assad attacked their positions around the Ma’arat Al-Nu’man front.
Continuing their quick progress in the battle to purge terrorists from the Idlib governorate, Syrian soldiers retook the towns of Al-Hamidiyah, Suhyan, Babouleen, and Beseida after cutting a key terrorists supply route to Ma’arat Al-Nu’man.
According to the AMN, the Syrian Arab Army is also working to envelop the Turkish military’s observation post in the nearby town of Hesh.
