Irfan Pathan may play for Jammu and Kashmir

There was a time when Irfan Pathan was a star but today he is struggling to find a place even in his own state’s Ranji team. According to a news published in Indian Express, the all rounder has now been approached by J&K Cricket Association to represent them as pleayer cum mentor. It was reported that this will be a deal for three seasons. Former Captain Kapil Dev was also approached for the role of coach.

JKCA CEO Ashiq Ali Bukhari also confirmed this and said, “We were looking out for a professional player and Irfan was our first choice. He has experience with him and is an all-rounder. His presence will help our boys to grow their game. At the same time, we have requested Kapil saab to come on board. They both have asked for a few days time before taking a final call.”

He also said that The JKCA is trying to take its cricket to another level. Having these stalwarts will help. Pathan, a Baroda veteran has suffered regular injuries and has been struggling to find a place in Baroda’s Ranji team. While on the other hand Kapil has expressed his inability to take full-time coach’s job, and instead has offered to conduct short sessions with the team.

Pathan seemed happy with this, he said, “They wanted to know if I would be interested in joining them for three seasons. I have got my NOC and the JKCA’s offer is good. I will be giving my final decision in a day or two.”
