NEW DELHI: Ace India shuttler Saina Nehwal rallied from a game down to overcome the challenge of China’s He Bingjiao in three tight games and book her first final of the season at the Indonesia Masters in Jakarta on Saturday.
Eighth seed Saina defeated the sixth seed Chinese 18-21, 21-12, 21-18 in the women’s singles semi-final. The first encounter between the two top-10 players lasted 58 minutes.
Saina will face the winner of the second semi-final between Chen Yufei of China and Spain’s Carolina Marin in the summit clash.
In a see-saw contest, Saina had to fight back to remain in the tie after losing the first game 18-21 to Bingjiao. And she levelled the match 1-1 with a dominating 21-12 win in the second game.
The decider too went to the wire with the lead interchanging between the two, before Saina sealed the contest with a 21-18 score.
