Gujarat CM Anandiben Quits Power

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel has willingly opted to resign as Chief Minister and asked the party high command to start the process of selecting a new Chief Minister.

In a letter to the party high command, she has penned her desire to step down as Chief Minister of Gujarat State, when she turns 75 on November 21. She has posted the letter on her Facebook page.

The state’s first woman chief minister, who succeeded Narendra Modi on May 22, 2014 said in her Facebook post that, “For the last some time there has been a tradition in the party that those who attain the age of 75, voluntarily retires from the post. She has also submitted her resignation to the state BJP president Vijay Rupani.
