Deal of Century is doomed to fail according to leaks: Expert

Deal of Century

No one will be able to implement the so-called Deal of the Century if what Israeli media claim about it is true, Middle East expert Hassan Hanizadeh says.

In an interview with the ILNA agency, Hanizadeh said believes that “the Israeli media say they have access to the documents relating to the details of the project of the “Deal of the Century” proposed by United States President Donald Trump.

“We do not know anything about the authenticity of these documents, but in the current context, if the revelations of the Israeli press are accurate, we must believe that even the closest allies of Israel will not be able to really insist on the implementation of such a project in the Middle East.”

Some Western diplomatic sources say that President Mahmoud Abbas’s Autonomous Authority will be able to accept the plan, but according to Hassan Hanizadeh, the Palestinian side would not be able to comply with the process orchestrated by Trump, the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

According to the preliminary agreements referred to by the Israeli press, the Israeli inhabitants of East Jerusalem al-Quds will be transferred to the western part of the city and Abu Dis, a small town east of al-Quds, would become the capital of the Palestinian state. .

According to Hassan Hanizadeh, it is clear that the Israeli regime is seeking to demilitarize the future Palestinian state whose sovereignty would be restricted. It would control most of the West Bank and border crossing points.

Gaza will be part of the new Palestinian state provided that Hamas drops its arms. No article mentions the right of repatriation of Palestinian refugees.

The Iranian expert believes that there is something wrong in the information disseminated by the Israeli press about the content of the “Deal of the Century”: “All clauses are favorable to Israel. If it is true, it is not a peace plan but a project of genocide of the Palestinians, “he said.

Referring to Saudi Arabia’s role in shaping the “Deal of the Century,” Hanizadeh recalls that Riyadh pledged $ 10 billion in annual financial assistance to the Palestinian Authority on condition that it accepts the plan of the Americans.

Hassan Hanizadeh added, “This sum would be grossly inadequate to handle the affairs of the future state of the Palestinians. In addition, all of the “Deal of the Century” clauses, as the Israeli press describes them, would mean that Palestinians must pay Israeli authorities and institutions for any occasion. This means that this agreement will violate the rights of Palestinians as before. Its application would be a disaster for the Palestinians. ”

According to the Israeli revelations, the United States would undertake to secure 20% of the financing for this project, Europe 10% and the Arab States 70%. According to Hassan Hanizadeh, this would mean that all political, financial, security and regional responsibilities go to the Arab countries of the southern Persian Gulf.

Jordan will oppose the “Deal of the Century”, he said, but Egypt will support it. “I believe that very soon we will witness a new wave of tension in the occupied Palestinian territories, while Netanyahu prefers the project to be implemented in a calm atmosphere,” he added.
