Modi to visit Palestine next month, going to ignore Israel this time

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in India and several pro Palestinian organizations are criticizing central government’s move to invite the Israeli PM. To counter his critics, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Palestine on February 10. He will be the first Prime Minister of India to do so.

PM Modi’s visit is going on at a time when the relations between Israel and Palestine are not good. PM will visit Oman and United Arab Emirates (UAE) before Palestine. However, he will not visit Israel.

According to some media reports, Modi will be traveling to Ramallah from Amman, Jordanian Capital. Ramallah is just 8 km from Jerusalem. Ramallah is the real administrative capital of Palestine.

It is worth mentioning that last year, Prime Minister Modi visited Israel but he did not go to Palestine. Many analysts criticized Prime Minister’s visit of Israel. Recently India had against the United States in the United Nations on the Jerusalem issue. In fact, the United States recognized Jerusalem as the Israeli capital, which was being opposed internationally.
