‘Saudi Arabia supports Palestine’, says King Salman

King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia reassured Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas that his country will remain the supporter of Palestinian cause. King Salman reaffirmed Kingdom’s support for the Palestinian people to free Palestine. The king, in a telephonic talk with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that the Kingdom is firm in it’s position on the legitimate rights of Palestinians. He stressed that Saudi Arabia supports their stand of Jerusalem as Palestinian capital.

Palestinian President thanked King Salman for his support in this cause. Saudi Arabia is the largest Arab nation which though has continuously supported Palestinian cause but it has a good relation with Israel too.

Israel had a severe blow in the United Nations when most of the nations had voted against the US decision of recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. This hasn’t gone well with the US and Israel. Saudi Arabia’s king statement is important in this regard also. Some believe that Saudi Arabian government hiddenly support Israel instead of Palestine but in the eyes of the Arab world, it wants to be known as a supporter of Palestine. Although, Saudi Arabian government leaders always deny of supporting Israel over this issue.
