Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet has blamed Hindutva outfits such as Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the RSS for the Bulandshahr violence. Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar said that Monday’s violence was a blatant attempt to disturb peace on the same as lakhs of Muslims gathered in Bulandshahr as part of their annual Ijtima or congregation.
Rajbhar was quoted by news agency ANI, “This is a pre planned conspiracy by VHP, Bajrang Dal and RSS, now police is even naming some BJP members. Why protest happened on same day as Muslim Ijtema event? It was an attempt to disturb peace.”
Rajbhar’s statement came on the day the Uttar Pradesh Police named 27 individuals in their FIR and arrested five people including Yogesh Raj of the Bajrang Dal. Other arrested and booked are from the VHP, Shiv Sena and the Hindu Yuva Vahini, an outfit founded by Adityanath himself.
Curiously, Adityanath has been busy campaigning for the BJP in Rajasthan even as the a part of Uttar Pradesh burned on Monday.
Hindutva terrorists had killed a police officer, Subodh Kumar Singh, on Monday while staging protests over the rumoured presence of cow slaughtering in the area. The slain officer’s son, Abhishek, said that his father ‘wanted me to be a good citizen who doesn’t incite violence in society in the name of religion.’ “Today my father lost his life in this Hindu-Muslim dispute, tomorrow whose father will lose his life?” he asked.
Singh’s mortal remains were brought to his residence in Etah on Tuesday. Meanwhile, his sister was quoted by ANI as saying, “My brother was investigating Akhlaq case and that is why he was killed,its a conspiracy by Police.He should be declared martyr and memorial should be built. We do not want money. CM only keeps saying cow cow cow.”
Singh was the investigating officer of the Akhlaq lynching case and was instrumental in having all the accused arrested.
Elsewhere, Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has said that cops should probe as to who brought the carcass there if indeed the protest was over the alleged cow slaughtering since ‘there is no minority population in that particular area.’
On Monday, the Uttar Pradesh government had announced Rs 40 lakh for Singh’s wife, Rs 10 lakh for his parents and a government job for the next of kin.
