Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor and his wife Dr Hameeda Tariq (Renowned paediatrician) attended the annual fete and exhibition of the Ladies Club, AMU and Ismat Literacy and Handicraft Centre as the chief-guest and guest-of-honour respectively.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of students and staff for organising the programme.
Dr Hameeda, the patron of Ladies Club, AMU exhorted girls to be more versatile and to get themselves empowered through education. Remembering, Late Mrs Jamila Majid, one of the founding members of the Club; Dr Hameeda said that her efforts in setting up the ‘Literacy Centre’ for disadvantaged girls will always be remembered.
Ms Sabiha Lari (Secretary, Ladies Club) was also present.
On the occasion, a craft-exhibition displaying models on the themes of famous women, monuments, festivals and costumes of India was organised. Food and game stalls were also a highlight of the event.
