A student shot dead on way to school in Greater Noida

A Class 12 student was shot dead in broad daylight in Kasna area of Greater Noida on Monday, police said.

The incident took place at about 9 am when the victim, 17-year-old Deepak, was on his way to the school. Police said two unidentified bike-borne men shot him near Parsvnath Estate in Omnicorn 3 area.

“Passersby informed the police about the incident. The police team identified the deceased as Deepak, 17, a resident of Omnicorn 3 area. He was a student of Amichand Inter College and was in school uniform when shot. He died on the spot,” said Sujata Singh, superintendent of police, rural, Gautam Budh Nagar.

“An FIR of murder was registered against unidentified persons following the incident. A team was constituted to probe the matter. We have got some leads in the case, we are hoping to arrest the culprits soon,” said Singh.

Police said the body was sent for post-mortem, reports of which are still awaited.

“Once the autopsy is done, we will record the statements of the family of the deceased,” said Singh.
