Mufti-E-Azam Hind Maulana Akhtar Raza Khan departs the Worldly Life

BAREILLY: Chief Islamic cleric of the influential and well revered Dargah Aala Hazrat, Mufti-E-Azam Hind Maulana Akhtar Raza Khan aka Azhari Miyan, departed the worldly life on Friday night. Azhari Miyaan was in his 70s and had been suffering from illness since a long time.

Conferred as “The Pride of India”, Jaansaheene Huzur Mufti e Aazam was awarded the Prestigious “Fakhre Azhar” (Pride of Azhar) Award by Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt for his astounding notations in Fiqh branch of Islam.

A renowned Sunni Barelvi cleric, Azhari Miyaan had occupied 24th place in the annual list of 500 “most powerful and influential Muslims” across the world, a record prepared by the Jordanian think tank, Royal Islamic Strategic Study Centre (RISSC), affiliated with the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought in Amman. The RISSC publication highlights people who have influenced and benefitted others within the Muslim community through their practice of Islam. Azhari was one of the few Indians to regularly feature in the list.

We mourn the loss of a pure soul, who was just and fair and as enlightening as any form of light could be.
