Shaheen Bagh shooter sent to two-day police custody

A Delhi court has sent Kapil Gujjar, the man who opened fire at protesters in Shaheen Bagh yesterday to a two-day police custody.

Aday after Kapil Gujjar, hailing from East Delhi opened fire in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh has been sent to a police remand for two days by a court in Delhi today.

Meanwhile, situation remain tensed in Shaheeb Bagh on February, 2 after people from surrounding areas marched towards the sight of protests demanding that protesters evacuate the road that has remained blocked for 45 days now.

The firing took place near Jasola red light on . No one was injured in the incident which occurred at around 4:53 pm.

The man, who identified himself as Kapil Gujjar, chanted Jai Shree Ram and said, “hamare desh me aur kisi ki nahi chalegi, sirf Hindu ki chalegi (only Hindus shall have a say in our country, no one else),” as he was taken into custody by the Delhi Police.

Family members of Kapil Gujjar claimed that he is not radical and is a “simple boy” but he was “tired” of travelling extra kilometres as roads are blocked due to protests at Shaheen Bagh.
