Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has arrived in India for a six day tour. But various groups have started to protest against his visit. This will be the very first tour by any Israeli Prime Minister in India. In Lucknow also, youths have organized a protest on Tuesday.

This protest will be held in Hazratganj area in which various pro Palestinian organizations are expected to support it. Independent activists Arghwan Rabbhi, Shah Muhammad Afzal, Nawaz Shareef, Vaibhaw Mishra, Muhammad Wali Ullah and others have given a call for a peaceful protest.

Youth Mandate,SIO, Chhatr Chintak Sabha and others have expressed their support for the event. Traditionally India and Palestine are great friends and Israel is an oppressor nation. It is also important to note that even Mahatma Gandhi had given his support to the Palestine. He said,”Palestine belongs to the Arabs in the same sense that England belongs to the English or France to the French. It is wrong and inhuman to impose the Jews on the Arabs… Surely it would be a crime against humanity to reduce the proud Arabs so that Palestine can be restored to the Jews partly or wholly as their national home”. India’s first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru never reognised Israel as a state and remained firm for the Palestinian cause.

Recently in December, India had voted against the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. 128 nations had voted against the US decision while 9 voted in support.
