THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A report prepared by the Kerala Home Department showed that there is no evidence for alleged ‘love jihad’ in state.

There were reports that many girls have converted to Islam under the influence of others and also after love marriage. But there is no evidence to prove the alleged ‘love jihad’ behind these conversions.

According to the report, a total of 7,299 people converted to Islam from 2011 to 2016. 82% converted from Hinduism and 17.9% converted from Christianity.

Thrissur recorded the largest number of conversions. 39% of of conversions took place in the age group of 18-25.

The Kerala Police in association with the central home ministry had investigated religious conversions including allegations of ‘love jihad’.
