Muzaffarnagar: Sangeet Som is a riot accused MLA from Uttar Pradesh. In 2013, communal riots in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh shook the whole country. Nearly 62 people were killed and more than 50 thousand people were displaced in these riots. These riots have played a major role in victory of BJP in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. At that time, many BJP leaders were accused of giving provocative speeches. Today, many of them have become legislators and MPs.
One such leader is Sangeet Som. Som is currently an MLA from Sardhana. Former CM Akhilesh Yadav’s government had accused Sangeet Som of giving inflammatory speeches.He was put on Rasuka (National Security Act) which was later removed after the court order.
He also expressed his pain at a program in Muzaffarnagar on January 16.He said that due to Muzaffarnagar riots, he is facing problems getting visa. Speaking at a program organized by the Chemist and Daughters Welfare Association, he said, “I have a lot of love for Muzaffarnagar, due to which there has been so much discussion in the whole world that no country is willing to give me a visa.”
Speaking to a newspaper,he told that I had applied for the visa of Australia but my visa was dismissed as saying that there are pending cases against me. He said that i had given this application in 2015, but it did not clear. After that, I gave up my intention to go abroad. Though he has traveled to Singapore, America and Australia.
