NEW DELHI : Akhil Sheron, a student of Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi has clinched a Gold medal at world universities shooting championship in Poland. He reached the milestone in 10 metre Air Rifle competition.
Jamia has won Gold in team as well individual events.
In a release, the university had mentioned: “It is a matter pleasure that two students, namely, Rayyan Rizvi, M.A. in Conflict Analysis and Peace Building – (Previous) and Akhil Sheron, M.B.A. (Previous) from Jamia shall represent Indian Universities Shooting Team for World University Championship that would be held at Poland in September this year.
“Rayyan Rizvi and Akhil Sheron shall represent in Trap and Air Rifle respectively.”
The trials for Trap event were conducted by Punjabi University, Patiala and Air Rifle by Punjab University, Chandigarh where they were selected for World University Championship. Both the international shooters have earlier represented the country in many international competitions.
The news has been welcomed by Jamia alumni and teachers. They have termed the development historic and a proud moments for all at Jamia.
