From boldly shouting Go Corona Go to advertising a papad that will build coronavirus antibodies, Indian politicians have left no stone unturned in the fight against coronavirus. We bring you some highlights.
The best scientific minds in the world are hard at work, trying to find a cure for the coronavirus pandemic that has entirely engulfed humanity at the moment. While some are preparing vaccines to build immunity against Covid-19, others are finding drugs that can fight its symptoms and yet others are finding other unique to beat this deadly disease.
Indian politicians fall squarely in the third category. While many of them may not have medical degrees, this has not dissuaded them from earnestly coming up with remedies to drive the evil coronavirus away.
From the bold declaration that coronavirus is not welcome in our land to a crispy crunchy snack to drive the pesky virus away, we bring to our netas’ top solutions :
1. Go Corona Go – Union Minister Ramadas Athawale
The first to pick the baton in the fight against coronavirus was Union Minister Ramadas Athawale. He had given the clarion call against the virus as early as February. In a now cult-status video, Athawale along with Chinese consul general in Mumbai Tang Guocai led a group of Buddhist monks in vociferously chanting ‘Go Corona Go’.

Later, Athawale claimed that the Go Corona Go slogan he coined has now become famous all over the world.
2. Drink cow urine – Assam MLA Suman Haripriya
In early March, BJP MLA from Assam, Suman Haripriya claimed that cow urine and cow dung are helpful in curing deadly diseases like cancer and even coronavirus.
“We all know that cow dung is very helpful. Likewise, when cow urine is sprayed, it purifies an area… I believe something similar could be done with ”gaumutra” and ”gobar” to cure coronavirus (disease),” she said during a discussion on smuggling of cattle to Bangladesh during Special Mention on the first day of the budget session of the assembly.
3. Sitting in the sun kills corona – Union Minister Ashwini Choubey
At a time when the coronavirus had already claimed 8,000 lives globally, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey advocated “absorbing sunlight” as a possible precaution against the virus.
“From 11 am to 2 pm the sun is shining brightly. We should spend at least 10-15 minutes to absorb sunlight so that we get vitamin D which improves the immunity of our body and also kills such viruses. All should be aware of (this fact),” he said when asked about the spread of coronavirus.

If we have already spoken of rum, its lifelong companion papad can’t be left far behind. Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal launched ‘Bhabhi Ji’ papad, claiming that the snack can drive away coronavirus.
