Earlier bahus from Bihar, now from Kashmir: Haryana CM Khattar after Article 370 revoked

The Chief Minister was addressing a State-level function of Maharishi Bhagirath Jayanti Samaroh at Fatehabad and said that the path to bringing Kashmiri girls was clear for marriage.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday made controversial comments on removal of special status of Jammu and Kashmir and said that the path to bringing Kashmiri girls was clear for marriage.

The Chief Minister was addressing a State-level function of Maharishi Bhagirath Jayanti Samaroh at Fatehabad.

Khattar, who was speaking on the success of Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign in Haryana, said, “Earlier bahus used to come from Bihar but now we will bring girls from Kashmir.”

“Our Minister OP Dhankar used to say that he will have to bring daughters-in-law from Bihar. People nowadays have started saying the route to Kashmir is cleared and now we will bring girls from Kashmir,” Khattar said.

The Indian government on Monday revoked Article 370 of the Constitution that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated the state into two Union Territories — Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
