Dept. of Law, AMU Malappuram organized webinar on the topic “The Rule of Law and Access to Justice” on the occasion of Law Day

On the occasion of Law Day, the Department of Law, Aligarh Muslim University Malappuram Centre organized a webinar on “The Rule of Law and Access to Justice” between 03:00 PM to 4:30 PM, through the Google Meet platform. Hon’ble Justice (Retd.)ZakiUllah Khan of Allahabad High Court delivered the lecture.

Mr.GhalibNashter, Coordinator (Department of Law, AMU Malappuram Centre) delivered welcome address.He mentioned that on paper India’s commitment to the rule of law is different from practice and to strengthen, every elements of rule of law like legislators,police, executive, prosecutors and judiciary have to play an important role together.

Dr.Shahnawaz Ahmad Malik, Assistant Professor, the Dept. of Law delivered felicitation address. He said that one of the basic component of the concept of Rule of Law is  Supremacy of Law should prevail and not supremacy of men. The time demands that judiciary should play a role to protect the fundamental rights of the people, specially in today’s scenario of Covid-19 and civilian agitations.

Hon’ble Justice (Retd.)ZakiUllah Khan delivered lecture on the topic “The Rule of Law and Access to Justice”. He said that our country should be ruled by a democracy most vibrant and ever aspiring to uphold the Rule of Law. And by adhering to the rule of law, we can only deliver timely and quality justice as written in the Constitution and reinforce public confidence in the justice administration system.He further explained about the importance and need of rule of law andfocused over the prevailing situation of the society.Heexplained through various judicial opinions the importance of equality, non-discrimination. He enlightened the way to deal with prevailing scenario according to the Rule of law to establish justice in contemporary Indian society. He expressed his pleasure over the performance of Law Dept, AMU Malappuram Centre.

The session was concluded by a vote of thanks from Dr.Naseema PK, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Law.Dr.Azmat Ali, Dr Najmuddin, Dr.RaghulRajan, Dr.ShaistaNasreen, Dr.Shally Victor, Dr.LubnaIrfanDr.AbsarAftab attended the event.

The webinar was hosted by Sadef Sheikh and organised by Syed Mohammad Ibrahim Quli (convener), IlmaSabeel and Kamran Tauheed (co-convener). YoqoobMurtaza recited the verses of the Holy Quran. It was attended by 149 participants. We received positive feedback from the participants
