At least 25 armed men on bikes opened fire indiscriminately in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district on Saturday afternoon, injuring a woman.
The men fired more than 100 shots and one woman on her way to a doctor’s clinic was gravely injured in the incident. Several buses and houses were also damaged in the incident.
The police reached the spot and arrested four of the accused.
According to the eyewitnesses, a person from this biker gang was beaten up on Friday by people from another group over a controversial social media post against women in their community. The police lodged a complaint against the accused under the Information and Technology Act.
Additional Superintendent of Police Raisingh Narvariya said action will be taken against all those involved in the incident.
The police have lodged a first information report (FIR) against 11 people and a total of nine have been arrested so far.
Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh government has imposed a lockdown in the state till May 15 on account of a surge in Covid-19 cases. The biker gang, among other things, flouted the curfew rule on Saturday.
