Strict action will be taken against the rioters: Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have spoken on recent violence in Kasganj. Yogi Adityanath said,”Govt will not tolerate any kind of corruption or anarchy in the state, strict action will be taken against anyone who indulges in such acts.”

The clash broke out after an unauthorised bike rally was taken out by RSS-affiliated students’ group Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in the city and tensions erupted when some of them demanded to unfurl a Bhagwa flag also which was objected by local community at the commemoration of the Republic Day. One person, identified as Chandan Gupta, died and two others were injured in the Kasganj violence that broke out on Jan 27 after a youth died during a clash on Jan 26.

While many have started to indulge provoking more violence, some have tried to make peace. Akram, a victim explained,”I was passing through #Kasganj towards #Aligarh to meet my wife who was expecting, but suddenly 100-150 people attacked me. Some people from the crowd were angels who managed to save me from others and let me go. I have forgiven everyone.”

Another, Rahul Upadhyay whose death was doing rounds in the social media said,”One of my friends informed me of rumours on social media about me getting killed during Kasganj Clashes, but I was not present in #Kasganj at the time of riots. I had gone to my village. I am absolutely fine.”
