History is witness to the fact that in the end, truth prevails: Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party seems united in the new crisis. After the diqualification of 20 MLAs by Election Commission, AAP leaders are criticizing the Commission. One Aam Aadmi Party leader described this as a ‘fake encounter’ by Modi government.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also came in support of AAP. She tweeted,”A Constitutional body cannot be used for political vendetta… At this hour, we are strongly with Arvind Kejriwal and his team”. Kejriwal though, avoided any direct comment on the EC but said,”There are many obstacles when you tread a path with truth and honesty. This is natural. But all the powers, visible and invisible forces of the universe that help yo. God is with you because you aren’t working for yourself, but the country and society.” He said,”History is witness to the fact that in the end, truth prevails,”.

CPI(M) also supported AAP and described Election Commission’s decision as undemocratic. Brinda Karat said,”EC decision to disqualify 20 AAP MLAs is undemocratic & selective in procedure & substance. It does not enhance the credibility of the election commission as an autonomous, independent, impartial body. We strongly oppose the decision of the EC.” The Delhi High Court had cancelled the appointment of the 20 lawmakers as parliamentary secretaries in 2016. But the election commission had ruled last June that this would not end the office of profit case against them.
