New Delhi: In a dramatic move, four senior judges of the Supreme Court of India have addressed a press conference. Supreme court Justices J Chelameswar, Madan B Lokur, Ranjan Gogoi and Kurian Joseph have appealed to the nation to save the Supreme Court. They have addressed a press briefing and talked about several internal issues within the institution.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi has conducted a meeting at his residence on this issue. This meeting was started at 5 PM. Senior Congress leaders have attended the meeting. Salman Khurshid, Manish Tewari, Kapil Sibal, Vivek Tankha and P. Chidambaram were present in the meeting.Prior to this meeting of the Congress, former law minister and senior lawyer Salman Khurshid described the press conference as tragic and painful. He said that the situation in the country’s highest court has been that the judges have to briefed the media.
CPI leader D. Raja has met Supreme Court Justice Chelameswar. After the meeting, Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D Raja said that the step taken by the judges is extraordinary, and it reflects the deep crisis within judiciary. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed her sadness over the press conference of the judges.She said that information received from the four judges of the Supreme Court about the court cases has disappointed us as a citizen of the country. The intervention of the central government in the judiciary is dangerous for democracy.
