ITANAGAR: Former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister and Congress rebel Kalikho Pul was found dead at his residence on Tuesday. He allegedly hanged himself.
Pul had been chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh for four-and-a-half months in early 2016, but had to resign in the wake of an adverse Supreme Court verdict in July 2016.
Kalikho Pul (1969-2016) was an Indian politician from Arunachal Pradesh. He is from Hawai, Anjaw district and was State Finance Minister in the ministry of Chief Minister Gegong Apang from 2003 until 2007. Kalikho belongs from Kaman Mishmi ethnic group.
He broke away from Congress Party and became the acting Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh on February 19, 2016. His government was supported by Bharatiya Janata Party, until it was dismissed by a court order in July 2016. Congress resumed power when the assembly was convened. Kalikho Pul died on 09 august 2016
