Four people on Amarwa village in northeastern Nigeria have been killed and houses were burnt in a nightly attack by Takfiri Boko Haram terrorists, local sources reported on Sunday.
“Two were shot dead and the other two choked to death in the fire the attackers set to houses,” said Ibrahim Liman, a leader of a local military service fighting Boko Haram.
Talking with the AFP, a local chief explained, “We have so far recovered four bodies, two of them with bullet wounds,” adding, “We lost our homes and food stocks in the fire.”
He also mentioned that the attack started on 11 p.m. and lasted past midnight.
Boko Haram terrorists also attacked Amarwa’s villagers in May and killed six of them who were preparing for the planting season outside the village.
In recent weeks, different places in the capital of Borno state and its surroundings have been under bomb attacks, which are supposed to be carried out by the members of Boko Haram.
Muhammadu Buhari became the Nigerian president in 2015, assuring people to destroy Boko Haram. Finally, in December 2016, he said that the army had retaken Boko Haram’s last key bastion which was in Sambisa Forest in Borno, and “crushed” the terror group.
Even so, the terrorist group has occasionally carried out shooting attacks and bombings in the northeast of the African country. The group is responsible for the lives of more than 20,000 people so far. It had also made about 2.7 million people homeless since its militancy started attacking Nigeria in 2009.
