Bollywood’s silence around many burning issues is almost deafening. But the barbarism of the alleged abduction, brutal gang-rape and killing of an 8-year-old Bakheral girl in Kathua – a political ploy aimed at ousting the nomadic community from the area in J-K – has roused B-towners and other celebs.
While the usual articulate voices from the industry expressed their opinions on Twitter, some others also spoke up and pointed out the deplorable law and order situation in the country. They also invoked the Unnao rape case, where a four-time lawmaker and his siblings allegedly gang-raped a girl and are also the accused in her father’s custodial death.
Ashamed appalled and disgusted by fake nationals and fake Hindus. I cannot believe this is happening in my country. https://t.co/V8tKoo6viX

Yet again we've failed as a society. Can't think straight as more chilling details on little Asifa's case emerge…her innocent face refuses to leave me. Justice must be served, hard and fast! https://t.co/xrW5RVffLe

All those who wish justice for women should stand up and raise their voices against the rapists and their protectors in Unnao and Kathua .

Equal rights/gender bias/pay disparity all seem like such distant, first world concerns.Lets begin with addressing the unmentionable horrors of the absense of humanity. The only way forward, if at all, from this blood curdling barbarism is justice.Heartbroken and aghast. #Asifa

Imagine what goes through the mind of an 8 yr old as she is drugged, held captive, gang raped over days and then murdered.
If you don’t feel her terror, you are not human.
If you don’t demand Asifa get justice, you belong to nothing.

A 8 year old is drugged, raped & murdered and another one is fighting for justice for herself and the death of her father in custody.
We have a choice either raise your voice or be a silent spectator.
‘Stand up for what is right even if you are standing alone.’#Kathua #Unnao

Is this really the kind of country we we want to be known as to the world today ?? If we can’t stand up now for this 8 year old girl regardless of our gender, caste, colour or religion then we don’t stand for anything in this world.. not even humanity.. makes me sick to the stomach pic.twitter.com/BDcNuJvsoO

Utterly appalling that slogans like “Jai Shri Ram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” are being used to defend perpetrators of heinous crimes. These vicious beasts will destroy India and Hinduism. #Unnao #Kathua

Please read this. If your blood boils, please share it. Because at a time when there's a section of people supporting these monsters, it'll mean some humanity is still alive.https://t.co/6RDgC16Y2U

Not just enemies of Hinduism. They, & all those condoning them, vocally or silently, are enemies of humanity, period. https://t.co/1Zwuiv8IOZ
