NITI Aayog vice-chairman Arvind Panagariya resigned on Monday after noon. Panagariya will return to academia in United States, NDTV reported.
He informed Prime Minister Modi (Chiarman of NITI Aayog) of his wish to move back to academics two months ago.
August 31 will be his last working day, and he was appointed as the head of the rejigged plan panel in 2015, PTI quoted.
He holds a PhD degree in Economics from Princeton University. He has also worked with top brands like World Bank, International Monetary Fund, World Trade Organisation and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development on various roles.
In March 2012 he was also conferred with Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award of the nation.
